ABOUT
FERNANDO MARCOS

My professional facet focuses on scenic photography, being a benchmark –as they say– in this field, especially in the specialty of dance.

I was a photographer for the National Dance Company between 2000 and 2011, under the direction of Nacho Duato. In 2002 he got a World Press Photo award in the category “Art”. I have photographed the creations of some of the most important choreographers and stage directors. Photographer of the lyrical part of the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, under the direction of Paolo Pinamonti, as well as the National Orchestra and Choirs of Spain, under the direction of David Afkham. From 2014 to 2018 I was the official photographer of the Berlin Staatssballett, the main dance company in Germany and one of the most important in Europe.

My professional performing work has been exhibited at the EFTI Gallery, Casa de Vacas, Hotel Westin-Palace (PHE 2011), Sala Loewe and screened at the Guggenheim Museum in New York; All these images, given the importance of the companies for which I work, have been published in different media around the world.

My personal work, almost always based on the world of paradoxes and science, has been exhibited at PhotoEspaña 2007, Madrid-Foto 2008, EFTI Gallery and Casa de Vacas, Loewe room (PHE2011) and Westin-Palace room (PHE-2013 ). With the Life, Origin and

Multiverso I got the first prize from the AC-Gallery in Madrid. And in 2010 I was co-founder, together with the scientist and popularizer Carlos Briones, of Proyecto Metáfora, a platform to bring together art and science. That passion has led me to collaborate with festivals such as Cultura con C de Cosmos, organized by the CSIC Astrobiology Center.

I consider myself a lover and expert in analog and 19th century photography. About them I give workshops, conferences and write articles for the prestigious Albedomedia, the most important website in Spanish on traditional photography.

I have been an active teacher in professional and master courses at the EFTI school in Madrid for more than fifteen years, directing its laboratory and combining it with the work of a laboratory worker for different authors. He has never stopped working and experimenting in analog photography, trying new emulsions and collaborating with his experiences for prestigious national and international media such as albedomedia.com.

I am a member of ANEF –National Association for the Teaching of Photography– and of the Academy of Performing Arts of Spain.
